QUALITY ASSURANCE SERVICE

The Centre provides a free and impartial expert service to assess the design and implementation of disaster risk financing projects.

Getting DRF right depends on:

  • designing approaches that are grounded in context

  • ensuring that funds from DRF instruments are linked to systems and processes that can get the money out to the right people

  • getting money in from pre-arranged financial instruments so that plans that are backed by the right amount of funds that come at the right time

  • approaches that are supported by effective project management processes

The Centre’s multidisciplinary team can work with governments, donors, multilateral organisations and non-governmental organisations to give a fair and balanced view of any disaster risk financing plans or proposals you may have. We do not stand to profit from any particular approach. You can find more details about what we offer in our guide to our quality assurance service.

EXAMPLES OF OUR WORK

Malawi Dry Spells Anticipatory Action Trigger

A quality assurance review of the trigger used in the Malawi dry spells anticipatory action pilot to mitigate the impact of dry spells on vulnerable, at-risk individuals and communities in Malawi through collective, cross-sectoral anticipatory action. The pilot makes use of a hybrid trigger model, comprising a predictive and observational component.
