Eleanor Hevey

Associate Director – Strategy and Engagement

Eleanor leads the Centre’s advocacy and communications work. She has more than 15 years’ experience as a senior policy leader, advocate and strategist for leading international humanitarian organisations.

Prior to joining the Centre for Disaster Protection, Eleanor served as the UK Director for the Eleanor Crook Foundation, a leading impact philanthropy, and as the Head of Humanitarian Policy and Head of Health and Resilience Policy at the British Red Cross. She has served in senior roles leading advocacy, thought leadership and strategic communications for UNICEF Canada, the Centre for Global Child Health, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch.

Eleanor is an accomplished high-level advocate in international diplomacy and multilateral processes, including the agreement of the Global Compact for Safe Migration, the Addis Ababa Action Agenda, the Sustainable Development Goals and the Convention on Cluster Munitions, among others. She played an instrumental role in leading coalitions in successful flagship G7 and UNGA campaigns.

She has led several innovative multi-stakeholder partnerships and diverse coalitions that engage across sectors and geographies. She sits on the steering committee of the Humanitarian Finance Forum.

Eleanor holds a BA in International Development Economics from the University of East Anglia and a Postgraduate Diploma in Sustainability and Innovation from Harvard University. She is completing an Executive MBA at the University of Oxford Saïd Business School and is the recipient of the 30% Club Oxford Women’s Scholarship.
