Amar Patel

Senior Risk Analyst

Amar is a Senior Risk Analyst in the Centre’s Advisory Function, offering advice, quality assurance, and training to governments, development and humanitarian organizations, and donors to improve disaster risk management and financing. He has experience in the private and public sectors in risk analytics, climate modelling, insurance solvency, and risk management.

A qualified Associate Actuary by training, Amar also holds a Master’s degree in Comparative Social Policy from the University of Oxford. His academic background provides him with knowledge and technical skills in social policy and risk assessment to ensure activities are based on analytical methods and research. This helps people and organisations make decisions and develop strategies for disaster risk reduction and financial readiness.

Amar is a proud New Zealander and has a special interest in disaster protection in the Pacific.
