Cristina Stefan

Lead Risk Finance Adviser

Cristina has experience in the design of alternative risk transfer products (CAT Bonds, ILS solutions, parametric reinsurance, swaps) and building risk management solutions that aim at closing the financing gap for disasters response. She has been involved in the World Bank led financial response to the 10th Ebola outbreak in DRC and has experience in projects such as PEF 2.0 transaction, development loan operations in emerging markets, as well as disaster risk finance products and derivatives. She holds a master’s degree in actuarial science from University of Economics in Bucharest, and a Professional degree in Actuarial Science from the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, UK. She holds a US patent on developing a pandemic fear index, that supports the definition of payout triggers for novel parametric insurance products covering the Business Interruption of the private markets to epidemic catastrophic events.
